GNC Teams Shorten SeasonsSubmitted: 04/03/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

- It's been the winter that won't end for many folks in the Northwoods. Many area sports teams are getting affected by all the snow piled up on area baseball and softball diamonds, golf courses, and soccer fields.

Outdoor activities have been cancelled for the first couple of weeks of the season.

It's gotten so bad, the Athletic Diretors for the Great Northern Conference had to meet yesterday to figure out how to salvage the seasons.

The ADs along with GNC Conference Commishioner Scott Winch met for 3 hours in Tomahawk.

Rhinelander Athletic Director Charlie LaHam told Newswatch 12 baseball and softball will only play the second half of their schedules. They will schedule double headers, with only the first game counting toward conference races.

Also Girls soccer and boys tennis will have abbreviated seasons.

Any outdoor track and golf meets cancelled will not be made up.
