Northwoods Snowmobile Trails CloseSubmitted: 04/01/2013
Story By Lyndsey Stemm

RHINELANDER - Another sign of spring just around the corner, even if it doesn't quite feel like it yet- the snowmobile season in most of the Northwoods is over.

Oneida, Lincoln and Vilas counties closed most of their trails today. Most of the county land use agreements with private landowners expire March 31st.

In Oneida County that's about 50 percent of the nearly 800 miles of trails. But most clubs are closing gates on their trails as well.

It might be tempting to ride anyway on closed trails since there's still so much snow. But Oneida County has an ordinance against riding on closed trials and you can be ticketed.

For those of you dying to hit the trails one last time there's good news. Forest County trials are open until Wednesday.

And ATV season is around the corner. Oneida County opens its trails May 22nd.
