Packers - Rodgers close to dealSubmitted: 03/28/2013
Story By ESPN.com

GREEN BAY - Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are close to completing a long-term contract extension. It would make the star quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to league sources.

Speculation is the deal could average $25 million per year.

A former Super Bowl MVP, Rodgers is under contract through 2014. He signed a six-year, $65 million contract in October 2008. Rodgers' base salary in 2013 is just over $9 million, while his 2014 deal is worth $10.5 million.

Baltimore Quarterback Joe Flacco became the NFL's highest-paid player earlier this month.

He signed a six-year, $120.6 million contract with the reigning champion Ravens.
