Chequamegon sweeps T-Bird Track InviteSubmitted: 03/28/2013

MINOCQUA - In track and field Thursday night, Lakeland was hosting the 15th annual T-Bird Invite. Rhinelander, Chequamegon, and Phillips among the teams taking part.

Chequamegon would win both the boys and girls team titles. Lakeland finished second, while Rhinelander was third.

Rhinelander's Nick Wright leaped 40' 0" to win the boys triple jump. It was also a person best for Wright. He also won the Pole Vault.

Lakeland's Delaney FitzPatrick broke the meet record she set last year in the girls 1000 meter run. FitzPatrick shaved nearly 3 seconds off the record, finishing in 3 minutes, 11.92 seconds. She also set the school record in the mile, with a time of 5 minutes, 38.45 seconds.


Chequamegon's Cade Strehlow won the boys 600, 1000, and was a member of the 3200 meter relay team.

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker's administration says Wisconsin faces a $2.2 billion budget shortfall by mid-2017, a problem that will have to be tackled by the Republican-controlled Legislature next year as Walker is building his resume for a potential presidential run.

The estimate released Thursday by the state Department of Administration is required under the law. It takes into account spending requests made by state agencies for the next two years.

The figures will be further refined by the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau in January.
