Maplewood Villa ReopensSubmitted: 03/25/2013
Story By Lex Gray

ARMSTRONG CREEK - Living independently can be difficult for older adults, but moving away from home and into a facility can be even tougher.

Maplewood Villa in Armstrong Creek hopes to make the transition easier.

The facility reopened in February after being closed for two and a half years.

Certified nursing assistant Brigid Murphy wants to make residents feel at home with Northwoods touches like a garden.

"We're more family-oriented," Murphy says. "We want people to be happy and realize this is their home also. We want to care for them just like we want to be cared for."

General manager Joel Koll says it's important for families to visit and do their research before choosing an assisted living facility.
