Hearings on Proposed State Budget ScheduledSubmitted: 03/22/2013
Story By Associated Press

MADISON - People in the northwoods who want to have their say on the proposed state budget will have to travel a bit.

The Legislature's budget writing committee plans four public hearings on Governor Scott Walker's two-year state budget next month.

The closest to the northwoods will be April 8th at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

Other hearings are April 4th in the Milwaukee suburb of Greendale, April 10th in Lake Delton and April 18th in Baldwin, west of Eau Claire near the Minnesota border.

The hearings give people a chance to tell members of the Joint Finance Committee what they think about the governor's plan.

After the hearings, the committee will meet over the next several weeks to vote on making changes to the budget proposal.

The committee's version of the budget will go to the Assembly and Senate to vote on sometime in June.

It happened in July on Shawano Lake in Shawano County, and on Minocqua Lake a few years ago.
