Story By Joe Dufek

WAUSAU - For the 4th straight year, the Newman Catholic Fighting Cardinals will play at the state girls basketball tournament.

Newman rolled over Hilbert in Saturday's Section Final. Their talented roster includes two juniors whose sisters played on the 2011 Championship team.

Abigail Connolly and Madison Tubbs.

Their sisters were Sarah and Megan Connolly and Lauren Tubbs. 2011 proved to be the second straight title for Newman. It also is a benchmark for this year's team.

Both Connolly and Tubbs were freshmen on that championship team. They remember the magic like it was yesterday.

This year's tourney is in Green Bay. Newman Catholic faces WI Rapids Assumption in the D-5 semifinals Thursday afternoon. Assumption is ranked 2nd in the state. The two teams from the Marawood Conference's South divsion spilt the series. By the way, Assumption won the conference title this year.
