Update: Severely injured PCA worker in critical conditionSubmitted: 03/06/2013
Story By WJFW News Team

TOMAHAWK - We still don't know if the worker severely injured yesterday at a Tomahawk mill will survive. Doctors at UW-Hospital tell us Michael Slesicki is still in critical condition as of 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The 53-year-old Packaging Corporation of America worker was trying to reignite a coal-fired burner when he was severely burned.

Emergency crews took him to Ministry Sacred Heart. They then flew him to the burn center at UW Hospital in Madison.

Slesicki has worked at the mill for nine years.

This isn't the first time a PCA worker has been severely injured. Two contracted workers died after they were burned by fly ash last July.

In July 2008, three people were killed by a storage tank explosion.
