Story By Shardaa Gray

MINOCQUA - The Winter Park and Nordic Center hosted their first Moose Tracks Snowshoe race on Sunday.

This was an individual race.

You either competed in the mountaineers class, athena, classic or one of the rare ones.

"The snowshoe race is part of the brave heart series," said Winter Park Executive Director, Jim DiDomenico.

"The movie 'Brave Heart' with Mel Gibson. They were a Scottish deal. They were wearing kilts and that was kind of the reasoning. He has a blue and white face from brave heart. and so that's reason behind this Kilter's Class."

DiDomenico says the park will be open as long as there's snow on the ground.
