MINOCQUA - Another Northwoods community hopes to make itself better known.

Lake Tomahawk joined the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce.

Lake Tomahawk is the newest member of the Chamber, which includes Minocqua, Woodruff, and Arbor Vitae.

The community will now tap into the Minocqua Area Chamber's ability to sell the Northwoods.

"Our marketing efforts reach far beyond this area, primarily to the southern part of the state and Northern Illinois. We wanted to let them be a part of that because they by themselves were not able to do that," says Kim Baltus, the Minocqua Area Chamber Executive Director.

The Lake Tomahawk Town Board unanimously approved joining the chamber.

It means visitors to the area will pay a little more for hotel rooms.

The room tax will be slightly higher.

The Minocqua Area Chamber plans to promote the natural beauty of Lake Tomahawk, and, of course, snowshoe baseball.
