Superintendent search narrowed down to three candidatesSubmitted: 02/20/2013
Story By Hayley Tenpas

RHINELANDER - We almost know who the new superintendent of the School District of Rhinelander will be.

The school board narrowed its candidates down to three.

The board started looking for a new superintendent at the end of last year.

Current superintendent Dr. Roger Erdahl will retire at the end of June.

The board narrowed the search to three candidates.

Jean Broadwater is the current superintendent of the Houston School District in Minnesota.

Kelli Jacobi is Rhinelander's Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Tom Johansen is D. C. Everest's high school principal.

Board president Ron Counter said whoever is chosen needs to be financially responsible.

"The future of the Rhinelander School District, relies heavily on its budget and future budget initiatives. And so I'm hoping this candidate can come forward, create some trust within the community, be a face of the school district and have a strong financial background so that they can lead us into the future," said Counter.

Final interviews for the three candidates are scheduled for February 27th.

That meeting will be open to the public.
