WABENO - For Wabeno elementary schoolers, Valentine's week means more than just extra candy and exchanging cards.

Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students sent more than 500 Valentine's cards to veterans.

Today, American Legion Post 44 vets returned the favor.

They treated each class to ice cream and cookies.

It's a tradition that's been going on for about ten years.

Veterans at the school also got to meet the student who sent them their valentine.

Post 44 includes veterans from the Wabeno, Lakewood, Townsend, and Mountain areas.
