Land O' Lakes woman finalist in $1 million potato chip contestSubmitted: 02/12/2013

LAND O' LAKES - A Northwoods woman's idea for potato chips could make her one million dollars richer. But she needs your help to do it.

Last fall Karen Weber-Mendham of Land O Lakes saw an ad for the Lay's "Do Us a Flavor" contest, and decided to enter.

Weber-Mendham chose cheesy garlic bread as her flavor.

In October, she found out she was a finalist in the top 3 of the competition.

She and the two other finalists went to the Lays headquarters in Dallas to taste their flavors.

"I got to see these chefs make actual cheesy garlic bread," Weber-Mendham said. "They perfect that recipe first. And then they had me take a bite of this cheesy garlic bread, and then hand me a potato chip. And I tasted the cheesy garlic bread potato chip."

The cheesy garlic bread flavor is up against Sriracha-- and chicken and waffles.

Karen is in New York City this week to promote her flavor.

Monday, she appeared on Good Morning America. Tuesday, she rang the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange.

All three flavors are in stores now, and voting is open, although they're not in Rhinelander yet.

You can vote for the flavor by following the link below.

Rhinelander Homecoming parade Submitted: 09/30/2016

RHINELANDER - Construction did not stop Hodag pride Friday night.

Green and white spilled into downtown for Rhinelander's homecoming celebration.

The dance team showed off its moves and the football team rolled down Brown Street.

The homecoming parade got students, parents, and even grandparents to come out in support.

"I am here to see my grandson, he is on the court, "said Elsa Burke.

Hodag jerseys and green facepaint lined the street as the RHS band and flag twirlers marched.

There definitely was a lot to look at, but football seemed to be the only thing on some people's minds.

"To see the Hodags come home with a W. That would be good," said RHS student Jacob Mahner.

The varsity football game kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight against the Medford Raiders.
