RHINELANDER - A Rhinelander Pastor wants his congragation to be inspired to reach out. That's why today he shared stories from his latest mission trip.
The Moogala Lutheren Church in Darsalam Tanzania is Immanuel Lutheran Church's African companion. Pastor Norman Peterson helped to put a dental clinic in Darsalam. But his goal for this latest mission was to make personal connections.
"We learn from each other. They learn from us when we share what we do in the United States. We were learning from the Mugala people, the elders as they welcomed us into their homes and into their parishes."
For Peterson, it was just the beginning.
I enjoy the outreach because it allows me to fufill the command that Christ has given us to go to all nations. I can't do that alone.
MERRILL - Members of a Northwoods union chapter gathered unique inspiration for a fundraiser - The Beatles.
Merrill-area Local 6 members gathered Wednesday on the Wisconsin flowage to raise money for groups in need of assistance. The union leaders organized boat rides, raffles, barbecues, and contests. The inspiration for the fundraiser came, in part, from the 1965 Beatles single Help!
"I found out it was the anniversary of the 'Help!' release from The Beatles record, and I decided, let's help our community," said Local 6 Vice President Valerie Nelson. "Our membership is very passionate about certain organizations within our community. One being the Lincoln County Humane Society, the local food pantry, and the American Cancer Society."
