Whispers of the Ancients Art Gallery

RHINELANDER - Art lovers can check out the Whispers of the Ancients gallery at Nicolet College.

The artists want to take you back to when legendary tales were told around the campfire.

The artwork was created by of Moses Beaver and stories were written by Tamarack Song.

The exhibit is at the Learning Resource Center on Nicolet's campus.

It runs through February 17th.

Craig Van Ark, owner of Ye-Ole Shillelagh in Manitowish Waters is hosting a three-day long Irish Fest with some of the best Irish musicians around.

"They're die-hard Irish people, so I said, 'Well, if you guys want to come up and do it, we'll put it together, and here we are," Van Ark said.

EAGLE RIVER - On Thursday, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism awarded the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce a Joint Effort Marketing grant.

Chamber Executive Director Kim Emerson says she was thrilled the Chamber received the $5,000 check to promote the third annual SepTimber Ride.

"We needed more marketing dollars. Dollars to showcase the event to audiences that have not seen the event," said Emerson.

SCHOFIELD - How do you calm and comfort a child who just escaped a house fire?  It's a challenge firefighters face often.

A Wisconsin-based program may have an answer.

"Reach a Child" donated six backpacks full of books to the Riverside Fire District in Schofield on Thursday morning.  Firefighters can hand out the books to children at the scene of emergencies.
