Three-car crash backs up traffic on Hwy 8Submitted: 01/16/2013

RHINELANDER - Wednesday morning's light dusting of snow could be to blame for an accident on Highway 8 near Rifle Road in Rhinelander.

Three cars were involved in the wreck around 8:30 AM. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

They were all going in the same direction down Highway 8 toward Rhinelander.

The accident was described as "a chain reaction" causing a truck to swerve off the road and into the ditch.

Traffic was filtered down to one lane near Rifle road until the accident was cleaned up.

Police requested extra salt for the road.

VILAS COUNTY - Voters can still cast their absentee ballots in person this week. Voters have until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd to go to their municipal clerk's office to vote.

Voters can also request a ballot to be sent to their home. The deadline for that is Thursday, April 2nd at 5 p.m.. Mail-in absentee votes will be counted even after election day.

VILAS COUNTY - Despite your votes to make Vilas County the "Best Cabin Region" in the country, the county fell short.

Cabin Life Magazine held the bracket-style contest. It started with 32 teams.

Vilas County beat out cabin regions in Minnesota, Michigan, and Colorado to make it to the finals.

The county squared off against Pinetop-Lakeside Arizona for the title of best cabin region.

INDIANAPOLIS - Republican legislative leaders in Indiana say they are working on adding language to a new state law to make it clear that it doesn't allow discrimination against gays and lesbians.

The move comes amid widespread outcry over the measure that prohibits state laws that ``substantially burden'' a person's ability to follow his or her religious beliefs.

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court has turned away an appeal from a Wisconsin pastor convicted of conspiracy to commit child abuse for advocating the use of wooden rods to spank children.
