RHINELANDER - Many of you voted for our first Newswatch Player of the Week for 2013. Here's the latest batch of talented high school athletes, making a difference on their teams.

In boys basketball, Merrill lost a tough battle with SPASH. But, senior David Jesperson scored a game-high 28 points for the Bluejays. In fact, he scored 6 of Merrill's 8 points in the 4th quarter.



In girls hoops, with first place on the line in the Great Northern Conference... Northland Pines knocked off Medford. Holly Darton led the undefeated Eagles with 25 points.

In wrestling, Crandon competed at an invite at D-C Everest on Saturday. State-ranked Carter Shampo won the invite at 132 pounds.

And In boys hockey, the co-op team for Chequamegon/Phillips edged Lakeland. Josh Lemke scored 4 goals for the Seals.

The Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center unveiled a new website design recently.

Chamber leaders wanted to make it more convenient for visitors who are already in the area to find something to do.
