Candidate Seeks State Superintendent Post Submitted: 12/03/2012
MADISON - Republican state Representative Don Pridemore says he wants to be Wisconsin's top education leader to bring a conservative approach to the job and increase the connection between schools and businesses.

Pridemore launched his candidacy Monday in Madison.

He is taking on incumbent Tony Evers, who has held the nonpartisan job of secretary of the Department of Public Instruction since 2009.

Pridemore says he will offer a ``common sense, conservative approach'' to the job.

Pridemore has been one of the most conservative members of the Legislature and introduced an immigration reform bill similar to what passed in Arizona.

Pridemore says he will work closely with Gov. Scott Walker's administration as state superintendent.

Walker has said he may not endorse anyone in the race.

Rhinelander man killed in ATV crash Submitted: 05/20/2013

MERRILL - A Rhinelander man died in an ATV crash in Lincoln County this weekend.

The Sheriff's Office responded to a crash just after 6 Saturday night in the town of Harrison.

49-year old Randy Romenesko appeared to have lost control of his ATV and crashed into a tree. He was taken to Ministry Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Romenesko was wearing a helmet but wasn't properly secured. Speed may have been a factor, but police believe alcohol was not.

RHINELANDER - It often feels like there are two seasons in Wisconsin: Winter and Construction.

Drivers in Rhinelander will head into summer with a brand new construction-related headache to deal with on a major roadway.

"We're hopeful, and we'll work our best to get it to where we want it to be," city engineer Tim Kingman said.

Rhinelander city leaders think that's the mindset to take when it comes to a major construction project on busy Kemp Street. Smaller portions of the project will start in early June. That's on Bruner St. and Boyce Drive.
