THREE LAKES, EAGLE RIVER - Opening game brings a lot of promise. Despite how you finished a year ago, everyone hopes tonight is the first to eventually winning a state championship.
A couple of area boys basketball teams began their journey Thursday night.
In Three Lakes, the Bluejays faced Tomahawk. Tomahawk plays in the Great Northern Conference. Three Lakes is the defending Northern Lakes Conference champions.
But the champs took it on the chin. Tomahawk defeated Three Lakes 71-39.
In another non-conference contest, Ashland traveled to Eagle River to face Northland Pines. Northland Pines struggled early and fell 56-35.
