Forest Co. Sheriff's Dept. Looking for Missing Crandon ManSubmitted: 11/13/2012

CRANDON - The Forest County Sheriff's Department hopes you can help find a missing Crandon man.

His truck is a silver Nissan Frontier, similar to the one shown in this photo.

It has four doors with a rack on top and black wheels.

The license plate is AK 1756.

Local fire department use burning car to train volunteersSubmitted: 09/23/2014

RHINELANDER - Volunteer firefighters train after finishing a full day of work on their paying jobs. PIne Lake volunteer firefighters practiced to better handle car fires.

The department covers 45 square miles Monday night filled mostly with homes. Assistant Chief Ryan Larsen says they've seen fewer people wanting to help the fire department.

"Recently, in the last 6 to 8 months, we have gotten 4 new recruits. They're currently enrolled in the firefighter one class out at Nicolet," said Larsen.

The exercise is some of the training firefighters need to do to keep people safe. The fire was controlled, but firefighters want to be prepared for anything.

But local businesses depend on the Prentice Airport to bring in potential customers.

Pilots need clear markings on the runway to fly in safely.

Crews started repainting the pavement markings at the airport Tuesday.

BUTTERNUT - Prosecutors suspect 27-year-old Duane Amos strangled, hit, shook, and ultimately killed a two-year-old child in Butternut.

A criminal complaint says Amos was looking after his girlfriend's young child in late August.

Amos brought the child to the hospital in Park Falls, saying the toddler was wheezing.

TOMAHAWK - People traveled from all over the country to take a class taught in Tomahawk.

Painting and Sketching in the Northwoods is being taught at Treehaven.

A photography class is also being offered.

Both classes take place over the next two weeks.

One of the teachers thinks this class is helpful because people stay at Treehaven for the duration of the course.

WAUSAU - The Wausau School District wants every student in the district to have either an iPad or Chromebook.

They hope to reach that goal by 2018.

Buying the computers and training could cost the district more than $2 million.

The district started giving out iPads to some students two years ago.

But the district might have to go to a referendum to get them to everyone.

Three counties will join together to make getting around easier.

The Vilas County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to join Oneida and Forest counties.

Frat boots UWM chapter president amid drug probeSubmitted: 09/23/2014

MILWAUKEE - An international fraternity has revoked the membership of the president of its University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee chapter amid an investigation into whether local fraternity members slipped ``date rape'' drugs into party drinks.

Twenty-eight-year-old Thomas Kreinbring was president of Tau Kappa Epsilon at UWM.

Kreinbring was charged Friday with several drug-related crimes, including keeping a drug house and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
