MADISON - The state Girls Swimming and Diving Championships is this weekend. Swimmers from Lakeland and Medford qualified for Friday's D-2 championships.
Lakeland senior Carolyn Kelk is the section champion in the 200 yard freestyle. The senior also finished among the top eight in the 100 yard free. Kelk hopes lessons learned from the past will pay off big on Friday.
Also in Division 2, Medford's 200 yard medley relay earned a trip to Madison. Senior Katie Homeyer is a member of the Raider relay. She also will race in the 100 yard breast stroke.
In Division One meet on Saturday, Natalie Neuwirth of Stevens Point is in both the 100 and 200 yard free. She's also a member of SPASH's 200 free relay and medley relays. Her teammate, Jenna Check is the section champ in the 100 butterfly.
Sarah Kane of Wausau East is in the 100 yard breast stroke and a member of East's 200 medley relay team.
And D-C Everest's Ashley Kroll won last week's sectional in Hudson in the 50 yard free style.
