CRANDON - We're making sure you're informed going to the polls tomorrow. Republican Jeff Mursau is running for his fifth term as 36th District State Representative.

But there's a Democratic challenger on the ballot.

Former Crandon mayor Dorothy Kegley is taking on Mursau.

This district includes parts of Forest and Langlade County, and stretches to the upper Michigan border.

The district includes the site of the proposed Crandon mine decades ago. Lately, iron ore mining has been a hot topic again.

Mursau voted for the mining changes that would later fail the Senate.

"A responsible mining bill is something that is in my forefront in the future," Mursau said. "It's a great job creator, and I think that's very important for the state."

"Mining can happen," Kegley said. "There's nothing wrong per se with mining. But there is a lot wrong with the bill that was written."

This district has been safe for the Republicans for several years.

In the viewing area, it includes the communities of Crandon and White Lake.
