THREE LAKES - Saturday is the state cross country meet in Wisconsin Rapids. It's the 100th year of the meet meet, and the 40th for the girls.
Three Lakes junior Natalie Miller is making history too. She is the first sectional champion from Three Lakes High School.
Miller has won 8 of the 9 races she's competed in. She has battled back from an Avulsion Fracture suffered last year. Her tendon basically pulled off from her left hip.
On Friday, she was given a hero's send-off at the high school. Miller competes in the D-3 girls race. She's competing at state for the second time in three seasons. She is also winning in the classroom. She has a 4.0 and is considering several options including work in either biology or outdoor education.
The state meet is Saturday at the Rdiges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. Races begin with the D-3 boys event at 11 a.m. That's followed by the D-2 (11:40 a.m.) and D-1 boys (12:20 p.m.).
The D-3 girls get underway at (1 p.m.). D-2 girls compete at (1:40 p.m.) and D-1 events at (2:20 p.m.).
