Middle School Students Wear Orange for Easton Submitted: 09/07/2012
RHINELANDER - Pink for breast cancer, red for heart disease, yellow for mental health - and now, orange for Easton.

James Williams Middle Schoolers wore orange in support of eighth grader Easton Senoraske today.

Easton is out of school because of leukemia treatments.

His classmates want him to know they're behind him every step.

"I think he's pretty bummed out, knowing that he's going through a tough time and he probably just wants to smile a bit," said student council president Jonah Zarda.

"I think he's going to be happy to know we haven't just completely forgotten about him and we still support him and want him to get better as soon as possible," said student council ambassador Angie Timm.

Teachers and administrators wore orange, too. But the idea came from the students.

"It's heartwarming to see that they don't need an adult to direct them to what is a good thing to do and how to support somebody," said teacher Beth Bloom. "I know that it's coming from their hearts, and they talk to each other - they're a strong student body, and they're ready, willing and able to do it. It's wonderful to see."

I don't know if Easton's watching this or not, but if you are - just stay strong. You'll get through this," Zarda said.

Easton will have more to watch soon - the students are planning a video diary to keep him in the loop.

New numbers show April was the 22nd consecutive month of growth.

Sales were up 9 percent compared to April of last year.

The median price for existing homes rose 8 percent.

For the northern region of the state, sales were up five percent in April.

ANTIGO - Most of us waited eagerly for spring so we could start our summer hobbies.

But farmers wait for spring so they can get to work.

John Schroeder runs a potato farm in Antigo.

He says the late spring could mean a bad harvest for crops like alfalfa, but potatoes should be just fine.

"It generally started a little wet and cold, he said. "We were probably three or four days behind planting right now, but we had a good week last week, so we're catching up."

But two Northwoods teenagers want to get right back into school in another country.

But they need help.

Two students at Lakeland Union High School only have 24 days left to meet their $6,000 goal.

Rhinelander man killed in ATV crash Submitted: 05/20/2013

MERRILL - A Rhinelander man died in an ATV crash in Lincoln County this weekend.

The Sheriff's Office responded to a crash just after 6 Saturday night in the town of Harrison.

49-year old Randy Romenesko appeared to have lost control of his ATV and crashed into a tree. He was taken to Ministry Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Romenesko was wearing a helmet but wasn't properly secured. Speed may have been a factor, but police believe alcohol was not.

Massive tornado flattens homes, neighborhoods in Oklahoma Submitted: 05/20/2013

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - A monstrous tornado as much as a mile wide roars through the Oklahoma City suburbs, flattening entire neighborhoods, setting buildings on fire and landing a direct blow on an elementary school.

NBC News reports at least 37 people are confirmed dead as of 7:30 p.m.

The storm laid waste to scores of buildings in Moore, south of the city.

The National Weather Service says it had winds up to 200 mph.

People wearing neon-green vests were joined by residents in the search through rubble. Neighborhoods are flattened and homes blown apart.

Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department says an elementary school took a direct hit from the mile-wide tornado.
