RHINELANDER - Soldiers overseas will soon be getting packages full of items donated by thousands of people in the Northwoods.
Tonight, representatives from Mole Lake Casino dropped off 1,500 pounds of items donated by their customers to the American Legion in Rhinelander.
The casino's run a promotion since mid-October that gives customers a small reward to be used at the casino for donating something even as small as a bar of soap.
All the items are being mailed by the Military Support Group in Rhinelander.
They mail 50 boxes a month to soldiers.
Richard Ackley, Jr., Public Relations for Mole Lake Casino, says "Number one the families feel good about their service men and women overseas and that the local community is thining about them. And it also gives our customers a great opportunity to participate because they feel good about being able to help in some small way."
They've collected toiletries, candy, and books.
Everything's being sent to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and a hospital in Germany.
Mole Lake Casino is ending the promotion on Veteran's Day.
