- A center hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is getting $20 million in National Science Foundation funding as it studies the effects of nanotechnology on the environment.
The five-year funding for the Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology was announced Monday. Nanotechnology deals with the manipulation of materials at a tiny scale.
A University of Wisconsin scientist says the center's mission is for nanoparticles in products in products to be designed to have no impact on the environment.
Other partners in the center include the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Northwestern University
