Update-Inmate captured after failing to return to jailSubmitted: 09/30/2014
MARATHON COUNTY - An inmate who didn't return to jail from Huber release will now get a chance to think about his mistake.

The Marathon County Sheriff's department confirms inmate Tommie Rothenberger has been captured.

He was found in Waupaca County around 5:30 last night.

Rothenberger was let out of the Marathon County Jail Friday morning to go to school at Northcentral Technical College.

He didn't return when he was supposed to.

Rothenberger was in jail for fouth degree sexual assault.

Marathon County deputies want to find an inmate who walked away.

Tommie Rothenberger was let out of jail Friday morning to go to school at Northcentral Technical College. He never came back.

Around 4:25 p.m. Friday afternoon, a call came in saying Rothenberger was at a hotel in Clintonville with his girlfriend.

Rothenberger was in jail for fourth degree sexual assault. He is 20 years old.

Rothenberger is 5'8" tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information should call the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.

DNR says hunters need to upgrade sunrise appSubmitted: 09/30/2014

MADISON - The state Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters they need to upgrade the agency's sunrise-sunset mobile app.

The DNR created the app in 2012 to help hunters check for the start and end of legal hunting hours. Agency officials say they've created a sunrise-sunset calculator in the Official Guide for Wisconsin's Fishing Hunting and Wildlife mobile app released late last year and the old sunrise-sunset app is no longer supported.

MADISON - 55 people in Wisconsin died last year from domestic violence.

The organization End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin looked at the numbers. They found the following statistics:


- About one person every week died from domestic violence in 2013. 39 of the deaths were homicide victims.

-12 abusers took their own lives.

TWO RIVERS - The parent company of Wisconsin Public Service Corp. is cleaning up environmental pollutants left behind by a manufactured gas plant it operated.

HTR Media (http://htrne.ws/YMvkWa ) reports Integrys Energy Group, Inc. is seeking regulatory closure for the Two Rivers plant that ceased operations almost seven decades ago. The Chicago-based company has signed an ``order on consent for removal action'' with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to address about 70,000 cubic yards of coal tar that remain on the 4-acre site.

WISCONSIN - The state Department of Natural Resources says Wisconsin saw record timber sales from state lands during the last fiscal year.

DNR Chief Forester Paul DeLong says timber sales totaled $11.71 million during the year that ended June 30. That's up from $10.8 million during fiscal year 2013.

FAA: 2 weeks to reopen Chicago-area control centerSubmitted: 09/29/2014

CHICAGO - The Federal Aviation Administration says it will take about two weeks to fully reopen a Chicago-area control center where an act of sabotage brought the city's two international airports to a halt last week.

The FAA said Sunday it hopes to return the facility to full service by Oct. 13.

Authorities say a contract employee started a fire Friday at regional control center in suburban Aurora and then attempted to commit suicide. More than 2,000 flights were canceled that day at O'Hare and Midway international airports, disrupting travel nationwide.

Naked, screaming man arrested at Capitol rotundaSubmitted: 09/29/2014

MADISON - State officials are looking into how a naked man found his way into the Wisconsin state Capitol's rotunda.

The man appeared undressed in the rotunda around 4 p.m. Monday and began shouting at the top of his lungs. It was unclear what he was saying.

A Capitol Police officer quickly led him away.

Stephanie Marquis is a spokeswoman for the state Department of Administration, which oversees the Capitol Police. She says the man was screaming that he was Jesus Christ. She says he will be taken to jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct and lewd and lascivious behavior.

Lawmaker's daughter faces new drug chargesSubmitted: 09/29/2014

GREEN BAY - The daughter of a Wisconsin lawmaker faces new criminal charges accusing her of possessing narcotics.

Twenty-five-year-old Cassie Nygren of Marinette appeared in Brown County court on Monday after being arrested Friday morning. Nygren faces two counts of possession of narcotic drugs and one count of possessing an illegally obtained prescription.

Nygren's struggle with heroin has made her a face of recovery and prompted her father, Republican state Rep. John Nygren, to draft legislation aimed at helping addicts.
