- A man led police on a high-speed chase across two counties before finally being stopped early this morning.
Just before midnight, deputies in Shawano County warned Marathon County a chase was underway.
The man driving, who had multiple warrants out for his arrest, struck a Shawano County squad during the chase. Speeds hit 90 miles per hour.
Around 12:50 a.m. Friday, the car crossed into Marathon County.
Stop sticks were used several times, but the driver managed to avoid them. The stop sticks finally worked near the Village of Weston, with the driver stopping on Interstate 39.
The man refused to get out of his car and showed officers a knife. A negotiator got him to surrender.
Interstate 39 was closed for for over two hours during the negotiations.
