- Wisconsin plans to use two federal grants to encourage healthier eating in schools.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture grants total about $451,000. The state Department of Public Instruction announced the awards Tuesday morning.
State schools will use the money to train teachers and students how to choose healthier foods, create wellness policies and encourage buying local and growing school gardens.
Wisconsin is one of 10 states to get the USDA grants.
