- Right now you need a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Wisconsin.
That could be changing.
Hidden handguns could be legally carried without a license in Wisconsin under a far-reaching, Republican-backed proposal being circulated for co-sponsors in the Legislature.
The bill unveiled Tuesday would also allow those who do have a concealed carry permit to bring firearms into places where guns are currently barred, including school buildings, unless signs are posted prohibiting them.
The bill is co-sponsored by Republican Representative Mary Felzkowski of Irma.
She says the bill is intended to remove the "barrier of the concealed carry permit" so people can exercise their constitutional right to carry a gun.
It's unclear if the measure has enough support to pass this session.
