- "I think it'll be eye-opening," said 15-year-old dancer Abi Rein.
Minocqua's Island City Dancers will compete in an ESPN Wide World of Sports dance competition in Orlando, Florida in March.
"We've been working really hard on and off the floor to make that happen," said Director of Island City Dance Lindsay Wiczek.
Rein has been on the team for seven years now.
"We've been talking about going to Disney ever since the beginning," said Rein.
The three Island City dance teams have competed in statewide competitions, but never something quite this big.
"It's going to be I think really different for us," said Rein. "And it's going to be nice to see what a bigger competition is like."
Wiczek said the girls are excited to perform on a national stage.
"We're working really hard to bring a good reputation to our area and the girls have been working really hard to prove that they deserve all that comes to them," said Wiczek. "So I'm really excited for the opportunity for them."
She said all the hard work is paying off.
"They have become really excellent dancers so I'm really proud of them," said Wiczek.
The dancers feel that it's their time to show what they can do.
"This is our year and it's really exciting," said Rein.
Wiczek said the community was a big help with fundraising efforts to get the team to Florida. The team will leave for the competition in two weeks.
