Grant pulled from politically connected sportsman's group Submitted: 09/06/2013
Madison - After plenty of media attention, Governor Scott Walker pulled a major grant for a politically connected sportsman's group.

DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp says the half-million dollar grant to United Sportsmen of Wisconsin has been taken back at the request of Walker.

The group wanted to recruit sportsmen and women for hunting, trapping and fishing.

The grant came under criticism after opponents raised questions about the group's federal tax-exempt status. The group's president had claimed they were tax-exempt, but that turned out not to be true.
