Spring Classic about catching, releasing fish Submitted: 06/10/2013
EAGLE RIVER - Musky mania took over Eagle River this weekend for the annual Spring Classic. There were 74 teams fishing on the Eagle River chain. 33 muskies were caught over the 2 day competition, and the big fish was 45 inches long. The director explains the benefits of a catch and release tournament. "The judge verifies the length of the fish - then the fish swims off to live another day," tournament director Jim Heffner explains. "If they were transferring them, it wouldn't give (anglers) a chance to catch a second fish. Musky is not a fish you can just cast and catch. You have to work for them."
