MADISON - Newman Catholic is making its first trip to the state softball tournament. Friday morning, they faced New Lisbon in the D-4 Semifinals. In the fifth inning, Newman's Christina Grunow had an RBI single. It was part of a three run inning for the Fighting Cardinals. They won 4-1. Newman Catholic will face Algoma for the state title Saturday morning. First pitch is at 10am. In Division 3, Pacelli fell to Mineral Point 2-1. In Division 1 Friday night, SPASH also lost a heart breaker... falling 1-0 to Kenosha Bradford. One other state tournament score, in boys team tennis, Wausau East was shutout in the D-1 quarterfinals to Brookfield East 7-0.
