Traps Out for Emerald Ash Borer Submitted: 05/15/2013
Madison - If you spot a purple box hanging in a tree this summer, leave it alone. The boxes are being set up to look for the emerald ash borer. The purple boxes as traps for the insect that kills ash trees. The goal is to find new infestations of the emerald ash borer and track its spread in Wisconsin. State agricultural officials say as many as 1,100 traps may be set in the next few weeks. Most will be in counties where the insect has not yet been found. The emerald ash borer was first found in Ozaukee County in 2008. It has since been found in 12 more Wisconsin counties. (Copyright 2013 Associated Press - All Rights Reserved)
