Ban on Utility Disconnections Ends Soon Submitted: 04/03/2013
Madison - If you weren't able to pay your heating bills this winter, your service might be shut off soon.

Between November 1st and April 15th utility companies are not allowed to turn off service, even if customers aren't paying.

After April 15th, they're free to cut off anyone behind on their bills.

Public Service officials say customers in debt should call their utility company and set up a payment plan. Anyone who tries to set up a payment plan and isn't able to, should call the Public Service Commission Consumer Affairs branch at 1-800-225-7729.
