- Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that lays out millions of dollars for job training grants and creates a new database to help job seekers find openings. The measure makes $15 million available for job training grants over the next two years. Public and private organizations may be required to provide matching funds for the grants, which could be used to train both new and current employees. The state Department of Workforce Development will administer the grants. The agency also will create the database by next year to help fill jobs in high-demand areas more quickly.
Walker signed the bill Wednesday during a visit to Jay Manufacturing Oshkosh, a metal fabricating company in Oshkosh.
