Republican lawmakers propose bill to allow for fetus loss Submitted: 03/08/2013
Madison - Two Republican lawmakers want to allow parents to sue if their fetus die as a result of someone's wrongful acts, including medical malpractice. Under current state law, dead children's families can file wrongful death claims but can't pursue such claims for the loss of fetuses during the early stages of pregnancy. The bill co-sponsors are Sen. Glenn Grothman of West Bend and Rep. Andre Jacque of De Pere. They say the new law would recognize fetuses as human beings. Democratic leaders in the Legislature did not immediately comment on the bill.
