Nearly 100 species up for invasive consideration Submitted: 02/19/2013
Wisconsin - The state DNR wants to hear what you think about proposals to add species to the state's invasive species list.

The DNR wants to put new regulations on nearly a hundred problem species.

It will specifically focus on species recommended as "prohibited".

Those species pose a significant economic or environmental threat, but have not yet taken hold in the state. If approved, the "prohibited" species would be banned from being transported or bought or sold.

The DNR will hold public listening sessions over the next two months.

In the viewing area, the DNR will hold a session in Rhinelander on March 12.

After the listening sessions, the DNR will start writing administrative rules on new invasive species.

See below for the species under consideration.
