- Manufacturing jobs get a lot of attention in the Northwoods and for a good reason, but an area college hopes to help office workers find jobs too.Nicolet College created a chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. The chapter helps to provide growth in education, community building and leadership development in clerical fields. The chapter in Wausau mentored the college.
They felt the need to share it with the rest of the Northwoods community."The closest chapter is in Wausau, which is quite a distance and we do have a big workforce in this area that Nicolet College serves," said Administrative Program Instructor, Helen Fries. "Really there's not an opportunity for the people here to belong to a professional organization like this."The organization helps Adminstrative workers first and foremost, but it's not limit to people who have that exact job title. "This includes all those job titles. So it can be administrative assistant, an executive assistant, a secretary, a clerk, an office manager. All of those people have a stake in this organization.", Fries said. The first meeting will be held at Nicolet College on Febraury 27th at the Tamarack Center.
