Antigo adds Swimming Submitted: 01/29/2013
ANTIGO - Last night, the Antigo school board held it's monthly meeting.

Among the items considered, The Board was trying to decide if the high school would add swimming as part of it's Varsity sports.

They have been offering it as a club sport. They are known as the "Penguins." The club competes at the McKenna Aquatic Center in Antigo.

The board unaminously approved adding the sport. The club would pick up the cost of operating the team.
Parents of former students are happy future Red Robins will have a chance to compete in a WIAA sanctioned sport.

"It's about recognition," says John McKenna a member of the Aquatic Center's Committee. "The club will will pay I think it's about $10,000 to pick up the entire cost of having it as a varsity sport."
