- A federal court will allow Governor Walker's collective bargaining legislation to stand.Today, an appeals court upheld Act 10 law stripping most public workers of nearly all of their collective bargaining rights. Seven public unions, including the teachers' union, challenged the law's constitutionality in 2011.
In March, A U.S. District Judge overturned part of the law.It required unions to hold elections each year for members to retain their official status. The judge also said the law illegally halted the automatic withdrawal of union dues. But today, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the law in its entirety. It said the law is fully constitutional.
