- On days like this, most of us think about snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing.
But the Lincoln County board is looking ahead all the way to biking season.
This morning, the highway committee decided to go ahead with building new sections of a bike trail.
The sections will connect the Hiawatha and Riverwalk Trails.
Tomahawk trails coordinator A.J. Theiler thinks that could bring more tourism to the city.
"The result will be new faces in town, bringing new money to town. And it's just a more enjoyable way to spend time in the community," Theiler said. "It gives everyone an opportunity to get out and in the old world style, just meet and greet their neighbors."
The project will cost a total of $800,000
80 percent of that will come from federal grants, the rest from local donations.
Theiler hopes the money will come through in time for construction to start this summer.
