DNR Reconsidering Access to Public Lands for Hunting Submitted: 12/08/2012
Madison - The Wisconsin DNR wants a recent hunting bill scaled back. Lawmakers and state agencies were inundated with nearly 2,000 angry emails and letters.

The Sporting Heritage Bill would open nearly all Wisconsin parks and trails to hunting. But the DNR now suggests keeping about one-third of state parks and trails closed for hunting.

In the complaint letters many people were opposed to aspects of the law. Some worried that campers, hikers and pets would get hurt. Others said they would never use parks where hunting was being allowed. The Natural Resources Board is scheduled to review the DNR's proposal Tuesday in Madison.
