- Some high school students get a unique chance to see surgery first-hand.
But Rhinelander's budget crisis could mean the program will disappear.
It's called Live From the Heart.
Live video gives students the chance to interact with Chicago surgeons while they operate on real patients.
Rhinelander Life Science teacher Kay Coates knows how important the program is.
"One,students stand to lose the courses not being offered which are key if you're looking at pursuing the health career pathways," Coates said.
"We know we need a variety of medical positions here in town that would be very beneficial."
High school senior Cierra Benish wants to be a nurse. But without the program, she's not sure that can still happen.
"I would be lost," Benish said.
"I wouldn't know what I would want to do um I think it would be really tough for me to get into college then because those classes aren't like offered."
For now students are capturing the moment while it lasts.
