- With the weather cooling down, Oktobearfest takes German style festivities inside.
For the 13th year the Black Bear Lodge hosted craft vendors throughout their cabins and entertained guests with polka music and German favorites.
"We turn the Bear's Den into a beer garden. We serve German beer, German food, German music... And then we have our own unique krautfritters that we invented the recipe for and which have become famous as part of Oktobearfest."
Visitors climbed aboard for hayrack rides, crossed some Christmas shopping off their lists- And kids got creative in a crafts cabin, decorating pumpkins in their Halloween costumes.
"It's a great family event, and the kids get a lot out of it, I'm looking at all these kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes and they're able to take pumpkins home with them, and do face tattoos"
Proceeds from Oktobearfest go to support the Vilas County Historical Museum.
Over the past 12 years Oktobearfest has raised nearly 20-thousand dollars for the museum.
