Northwoods Spotlight: 1989 Hodags Submitted: 10/17/2012
RHINELANDER - In 1989, George Herbert Walker Bush was president. The Packers were in the middle of a (10-6) season under then coach Lindy Infante and quarterback Don Majkowski - the Majik man. And you could buy unleaded gas at 1.47 per gallon.

Also in 1989, the last Rhinelander football team competed in the playoffs. This year's version begins their post season run in Waupaca Friday night.

Jeremy Monk was a senior Linebacker and running back for the 89 squad.

They wore t-shirts with the slogan 'Bad Boys'. As you can see, the shirt has had plenty of use since them.
That team fell in the opening round to eventual state champion Marinette.

Jeremy is excited this year's team has a chance to make their own history.
