Northland Pines advances in soccer regionals; Tomahawk volleyball sweeps Pines Submitted: 10/09/2012
EAGLE RIVER - Tuesday was the start of regionals in boys soccer. Many Northwoods teams hoping today is just the beginning and not the end. Northland Pines was one of them.

The Eagles hosted the Freedom Irish at Sam Larsen Field. Pines senior Trevor Laszczkowski scored three goals in the Eagles 4-0 victory. Evan Hartwig had 5 saves for the shutout.

In volleyball, Northland Pines faced Tomahawk in Eagle River. Both teams wore pink jerseys for breast cancer awareness.
Tomahawk would collect a three-game sweep. Anna Nyberg had 17 kills for the Hatchets. Amanda Schneider added 6 aces for Tomahawk. Tomahawk remains tied with Rhinelander in the GNC standings.
