Rhinelander - Rhinelander supper club owner Rob Swearingen has won the GOP nomination in the 34th Assembly District.

Swearingen took nearly three-quarters of the vote over Rhinelander City Councilman Alex Young.

Swearingen said he's happy to hit the streets again. "You forget the quality of people we have here," he said. "When you go door-to-door and meet them again, you get a chance to visit with them, we're very blessed with the quality of people we have here in the Northwoods. It's a really great feeling."

Swearingen said he'll keep focusing on issues like job creation.
