Merrill - No one was injured in a basement fire in Merrill today.

Merrill fire crews were called to a home at 617 East 1st Street around 1 p.m.

Firefighters put out the fire in the basement. A clothes dryer is likely to blame.

No one was home at the time, but two pets were rescued from the house.

The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicous.
