Marathon County Emergency Crews Battle Fire in Kronenwetter Submitted: 07/28/2012
Rhinelander - Nearly four acres of woods were engulfed in flames this afternoon after a grass fire broke out in Kronenwetter.

The fire broke out just before 4 p.m. Saturday off old Highway 51 and Nelson road, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Newswatch 12’s Meteorologist Matt Serwe was on the scene and took several photos.

He spoke to neighbors who said firefighters alerted them of the fire.
No one was hurt and no homes were destroyed, said the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department. Several surrounding emergency crews were called to help….Including Mosinee, Rib Mountain, Weston, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin DNR.

The DNR says dry conditions played a factor in how quickly the flames spread.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
